GREAT STRIDES is the CF Foundation's largest and fastest growing event, involving more than 95 Foundation chapters and branch offices nationwide. In 2008, GREAT STRIDES brought in more than $37 million dollars for CF research and the patient-care programs that are bringing us closer to a cure.
This community event is centered around a local walk. In addition to the walk, the event includes food, entertainment and activities for the entire community. It provides the perfect occasion for families, local businesses, community organizations, school and clubs to gather as a community and make a valuable contribution by raising funds for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
This year, we are hosting the
fourth annual GREAT STRIDES event in the Snoqualmie Valley area. We are gathering the communities of Snoqualmie, North Bend, Fall City, Carnation, Duvall, Issaquah, Redmond and Cle Elum to participate in this fun and worthwhile event. Participants will enjoy a scenic Autumn stroll along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail while raising important funds for life-saving research.
Since 1955, the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. The CF Foundation tirelessly pursues its mission by supporting scientific research, which is dedicated to the discovery and development of new therapies. At the same time, it funds and accredits a network of specialized treatment centers that provide state-of-the-art care for people with CF. By applying the same principles that a "for-profit company" follows - efficiency, innovation, and a results-driven approach - the CF Foundation is making a profound difference in the lives of those with CF.
Although the outlook for a child born with CF today has improved tremendously over the years, it is not good enough. Your partnership with the CF Foundation is critical to ensuring that the momentum in CF research continues. Working together, we can add tomorrows everyday to the lives of all people with CF.
